Risha, our protagonist
This is my first post after I revamped the earlier terrible blog into a totally different URL. In most ways, this is my first post of all.
Not that I believe in Karma, but starting on a good note is just what the doctor prescribed. And what better way to start than writing about my sister, Risha, on the eve of her 22nd birthday.
Risha Choudhary, just out of Manipal Institute of Technology as an Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduate with a whopping 9.4 CGPA is now doing her MBA at IIM-C. With so much already said about her 99.94 %ile in CAT 2011, I guess we should move on and talk about other things about my only own sister and hence, in a way, show that she is much more than just an academically brilliant student.

Born
on 27th June, 1990, without thunder or lightning, Risha had always
been an ordinary kid. Ordinary intelligence coupled with ordinary looks.
Freckled and wearing braces, she passed middle school without much of a spark.
Only after standard 8 did she suddenly blow past expectations. Hard work and
methodical studying made her a star student, what with excellent public
speaking skills and personality. By standard 9, she had her mum distributing
prizes to ‘other brilliant students’. She was now transforming into a woman,
and her looks slowly started to compliment her persona. She had fought her way
to the top, only to tumble down during her +2. She was victim to the age-old
virus. No prizes for guessing, she was crazily in love. Initial amateurish
approach to her relationship took most of her time and by the time she could
realize and get back to business, she had already bombed her entrances.

She
spent the next four years of her life at Manipal Inst. of Technology and my,
did she perform well. She literally left others wondering in awe as she aced
exams after exams. She was gradually bringing colour to her lost image. And by the time she was in the third year,
she was already a 10-pointer. Then came the zenith of her achievements. CAT
2011. No one knew it went this well. Heck, Risha herself had no idea she’d do
that well. Rest, as we all know it, is, for lack of better words, history. She
was all over the papers, famous in her social networks, long-lost relatives
phoned in to congratulate her. God, the phone rang all day. It took more than
six weeks till things become normal. Risha never let any of it get into her
head. She had faced criticism and humiliation in the past and was beyond any
form of smugness and arrogance.

Me and her, Goa.
Being
elder to most of us kids, Risha had always acted and behaved maturely. Even
before all her milk denture were replaced by the stronger set, she had
learnt to sacrifice and handle situations like someone at least a decade older
than her. Protective about her family, she always put them ahead of anything, anyone
else. Her dream has always been to make her parents proud and she has managed
to fulfil that more than just once now. She’s the daughter, sister, fiancĂ©e,
friend- people would kill for.

With her *cough*, you know.
The
relationship between me and my sister has its own bitter-sweet memories. I
hardly remember how things were till she was here at home. Only after she left
college did I realize how much I missed her. She's been there when I needed her the most. I was too small for her when she needed a brother. Now that I'm finally grown up, we talk about the craziest of stuff on planet and a lot more about relationships than any other brother-sister pair can claim. Talking about relationships, Risha is still dating the same person she hit during high school. He, just like her, is the most understanding and loving man you'd find in the funny world. Her friends from school and college have always been supportive and super-cool and probably will remain her closest mates all her life. I'm glad she's happy in her own space and doing well.
With
this, I end my extremely huge article on my sister. Outrageously formatted and
written, I am aware I could have done the entire post much more eloquently. However, its 12:30 now, and I’m already overdue. And well, you just can’t write
much expressively ‘under the gun’. *cracked laughter*
Happy Birthday Risha Di.
Love.
